Our Story

More than 18 years ago, Dave Stone, a lifelong automotive enthusiast and member of the Wood River valley, set out on a seemingly simple pursuit: to find a legitimate way to experience great cars as they were meant to be driven. This was the spark that led to an unlikely partnership between government agencies, law enforcement, land managers, local businesses, and fellow community members.

This unprecedented collaboration gave rise to a one-of-a-kind driving experience, tied directly to philanthropy in the Wood River valley and beyond. Since its debut in 2009, the event has grown from its local roots into an internationally recognized automotive event, raising millions of dollars for charities. While the event has evolved over the years, its foundation remains unchanged: combining passion, community and automotive culture as a force for good.

Each year brings new ideas and distinctive experiences that are engaging, relevant, and forward-looking. While the format may change, the goal remains the same: to create a meaningful, well-crafted event that brings people together, supports important causes, and keeps our remarkable community of drivers and supporters coming back year after year.
